The winners of the 2008 International Design Awards Land & Sea competition for sustainability were celebrated at a reception on Sunday, May 18 at New York's H.K. Lounge, bringing together an enthusiastic selection of the 30,000 attendees of this year’s International Contemporary Furniture Fair and the IDA jurors for a peek at fourteen of the world’s most innovative projects pushing the envelope of sustainable design.

IDA hosted celebrated architecture photographer Jim McHugh, famous for his years photographing celebrities in their homes for covers of "Architectural Digest", for the opening of his enthusiastically-received show "L.A. Skies" during WestWeek at the Pacific Design Center. The photos offer an ethereal look at the city's facades and render the city a romantic dreamscape both bewitching and transporting. Appropriately, McHugh used a Polaroid to capture the city -- a culture-defining product whose imminent discontinuation promises it mythical status itself.

March 9, 2008 IDA at Museum of Design Art and Architecture

The International Design Awards celebrated its 2007 winners on Sunday, March 9 at the opening of the Museum of Design Art and Architecture exhibit of winners' work, bringing in furniture designer Ezequiel Farca, Mexico City; textile designer Lily Latifi, Paris; architect Zoltan Pali, FAIA, Culver City; furniture designer Manuel Saez, New York; fashion designer Jasmin Shokrian, Los Angeles; and Alexander McQueen protegee Mintee for an elegant evening heralding great design and Maker's Mark cocktails, also sponsored by FIJI water, Hennessey and Ingalls bookstore and Apothia candles.
